[Case Study] Creallo X Lanipet: From Prototype Validation to Eco-Friendly Injection Molding

AUTHOR: Creallo Marketing Team|2026.08.27

Lanipet is a pet product brand founded by a team with deep roots in precision manufacturing and product development. The brand started with one simple question:

Would I confidently give this to my own dog?

If the first product, Hoduball, answered that question through material and construction choices (see: Lanipet Hoduball Project), the second product, Gurum Pod, extends that same philosophy into a less visible domain: hearing. A dog's audible frequency range is roughly three times wider than a human's, which means the high-frequency content in ordinary white noise machines can actually cause stress rather than relieve it.

To solve this, Lanipet designed a sound profile with the harsh high frequencies filtered out — and Creallo ran the full manufacturing process for the device built around it, from early-stage design through final mass production, as a single continuous engagement.

Project at a Glance

Brand

  • Lanipet — a premium pet lifestyle brand

Project

  • Validate the mechanical design of Gurum Pod, a white noise machine tuned to canine hearing (40–60,000Hz), and bring it into initial mass production

Production

  • Prototyping and eco-friendly injection-molded production of Gurum Pod

Process

  • SLA 3D printing (fit and function validation) → Injection molding (final production, 6 mold sets, rABS)

Key Results

  • Design feedback cycles cut from roughly one week to 1–2 days using in-house 3D printing
  • Pre-production 3D printing validation avoided an estimated KRW 10 million (~USD 7,500) in tooling rework and QDM costs
  • Total lead time from the first of 8 design iterations through to initial injection production: 9 months
  • Recycled ABS (rABS) housing material cuts CO2 emissions by 81% versus virgin ABS

The Challenge — Driving Design Risk Close to Zero Before Tooling

Gurum Pod's requirements pulled in several directions at once. The product needed a slim, refined enclosure, but that enclosure also had to house a dense internal layout of PCB, speaker, and battery. On the outside, a single-click, rotating dial had to deliver 10 volume steps with zero play in the mechanism.

Cutting steel and moving straight to injection molding before the design was fully locked would have meant carrying the risk of costly mold rework — often well into almost USD 7,500. To eliminate that risk before it could hit the production line, Creallo designed a systematic process that bridges 3D-printed pre-validation and mass production, rather than committing directly to injection molds for an unproven design.

Step 1 — Purpose-Built Prototyping with SLA 3D Printing

Creallo first proposed SLA (Stereolithography), using an ABS-like resin, to nail down assembly tolerances and surface appearance. Eight design iterations were printed on SLA, and details like play in the rotating top dial were refined through direct, hands-on iteration.

Gurum Pod packs precise mechanisms and dense electronics into a minimal, design-forward enclosure. Rigorous 3D-printed prototyping wasn't just about confirming shape — it was the most reliable bridge to a flawless injection-molded production run.

By using SLA to nail down the structure and validate function early, Creallo drove the risk of failure at the transition to injection molding down to near zero.

Step 2 — From Validated Design to Eco-Friendly Injection Molding

Once repeated prototyping had confirmed the design was ready for production, Creallo moved into injection mold fabrication for all 6 components, including the housing and LED light pipe. In line with Lanipet's sustainability commitment, the housing was molded in recycled ABS (rABS), cutting CO2 emissions by 81% compared to virgin ABS. To account for the subtle shrinkage behavior of rABS during molding, Creallo ran samples through T0 through T2 tooling iterations before locking the final production design. Creallo then delivered the project turnkey — running the initial production batch of 3,000 units, assembling electronic components, final inspection, and packaging.

Rigorous Quality Control for Production

Creallo applies its own precision inspection process to control defect rates before Gurum Pod units are assembled and shipped, with strict quality standards enforced across the following areas:

  • Dial and button feel: precisely tuned tension and feel
  • Shell-to-shell tolerance: upper and lower shell fit optimized and tightly controlled
  • Durability and sound integrity: tested under real-world use conditions
  • Surface finish and color match: inspected against the approved brand color sample for an exact match

Hitting two goals at once — precision that fully realizes the design intent, and reliable production in a recycled material — from planning through final assembly without a single gap, was the core challenge of this project.

What's Next — Where Technology Meets Brand Philosophy

Creallo went beyond simply building to spec — they carried Lanipet's brand philosophy all the way through the manufacturing process itself. Delivering on a demanding eco-material and a minimalist structure without compromise was entirely down to Creallo's manufacturing depth.

 – Lanipet

Lanipet believes brand trust comes from well-founded choices in materials and manufacturing methods — not from aesthetics or trends alone. Drawing on process expertise that spans prototyping through injection-molded production, Creallo will continue working alongside Lanipet on future products, designing the manufacturing path that lowers risk and maximizes efficiency for each new release.
