Production Defect Criteria

All parts are machined at the operator's discretion.
All manufactured parts shipped by Creallo undergo basic processing (sanding, support removal). Since this is the most basic service-level machining and is performed by multiple operators, all parts are machined at the operator's discretion

The defects and exceptions are summarized below

Defect Criteria

1. The design was created in compliance with Creallo's design guidelines, but issues such as deformation, damage, or missing parts occur during shipping

2. The manufacturing tolerance range guaranteed by Creallo is exceeded

3. The quantity or content of the order received by Creallo is different from the order details

4. Cases deemed not to be included in Creallo’s “Defect Criteria Exceptions.”

Exceptions

1. Characteristics of the Production Technology Itself

In the case of products without post-processing (as-machined finish), the characteristics of the production technology itself are reflected.
If the appearance is important, we recommend that you perform post-processing yourself.
The basic surface characteristics products created with 3D printing technology that are shipped as-machined are summarized below.
*As-machined finishes are often not suitable for end-use parts where appearance is important.

2. Common Characteristics of 3D Printing Technology

2-1 Cases where post-processing is not done or supports are not removed

Cases where processing is not very important
Where the operator determines that the part is a housing that encloses another product, the surface that is visible is processed, but the inner surface is not processed before shipping.

The part that is very small or thin
There is a risk of damage or deformation during shipping. In such cases, we may ship the part without post-processing or removing supports.
Supports can be easily removed with basic tools such as knives, scissors, and nippers.
*Examples of such parts: Parts with thin and long shapes such as hair or tails, thin-walled hemispheres, or thin and wide structures such as wide plates

Cases where it is difficult for tools to reach some areas
Supports in locations that are difficult for tools to reach will not be removed.

2-2 Cases where there are scratches, etc., on the surface

Cases where precision machining is required
Parts with corners, small letters, etc., that are difficult to work around may be shipped with surface processing omitted or with rough sanding marks that look like scratches.

Cases where it is difficult for tools to reach some areas
The inner surfaces of products with small openings, such as bottles, may also be difficult for tools to reach, resulting in poor processing quality.

3. SLA Printing Method

3-1 Cases where powder remains

During basic processing
Sanding may be performed using sand. In this case, some of the sand may remain in the form of powder on the surface or between complex structures.
*Solution: You can remove the powder by shaking it off or rinsing it with water.

Engraved letters or shapes
If there are recessed parts, powder from processing may get stuck in crevices. It may appear white or black depending on the angle of light.
*Solution: The powder can be easily removed by rubbing it with a brush or gently scraping it away with a pin.

Inner surfaces of complex parts
Raw materials or sand used for processing may get trapped inside and not come out. *Solution: Any raw materials or sand can be easily removed by gently shaking the part.

3-2 Cases where there are holes on the surface

Hollow structures such as balls: If you request a 3D model without surface holes, we will arbitrarily make holes on the outside before printing. It is best to request the model with holes in locations where it is okay to have them.
Since internal supports cannot be removed and the remains of materials get trapped inside during printing, holes must be made on the outside before printing in order to remove such materials from the inside. The holes are made at the most optimal locations for removing the material, based on the operator's judgment.
*During shipping
There may be issues such as internal expansion or deformation during shipping if the holes are closed again, so in some cases we ship the product without filling in the holes.

3-3 Scratches on the surface [Translucent/Black Resin/Brown Resin/Heat Resistant Resin]

Due to the characteristics of these resins, scratch marks can easily be seen on the surface, even due to minor friction.

4. FDM Printing Method

4-1 Phenomena occurring due to the characteristics of FDM printing

In the case of FDM printing, no post-processing is performed except for support and raft removal.

Due to this, the following phenomena may be observed in the output. However, these are not defects but phenomena caused by the characteristics of FDM printing.

Printed layer striation pattern

Traces of the nozzle passing

Print residue clumped on the surface

4-2 Traces of support removal

Depending on the shape of the 3D model, the material used, and the printing direction, the quality of the surface where supports have been removed may be rough.

4-3 Cases where a sticky adhesive remains on the surface

For FDM, an adhesive may be applied to the 3D printing bed before printing for stable and high-quality output. In such cases, we do not clean off the adhesive before shipping.

*Solution: The adhesive is water-soluble, so it can be easily removed by rinsing it in water.

5. MJF

5-1 Rough surface

Due to the characteristics of MJF printing and the materials, the surface is rougher compared to other printing methods.

6. SLM

6-1 Residue or lines on the surface [Aluminum/Stainless Steel]

Creallo’s metal 3D printing is done without post-processing. Due to this, there may be print residue or particles left on the surface, and lines (texture) may be generated due to the printing method.

7. Painting

7-1 Cases where paint is missing in some areas

Creallo's painting service focuses on areas deemed to be the "outer surface."
You can request full painting in advance before ordering, but this may increase the lead time compared to the calculation of the real-time quoting service.

'- In the case of joint structures, painting is not performed to prevent tolerance issues due to the paint.
'- During painting, areas for fixing are not painted.
'- Gloss coating and SF (rubber) coating can only be applied to the outer surface.

7-2 Surface texture

When painting, finishing materials are added to prevent scratches and protect the surface.
If it is determined that some colors require more surface protection than others, the amount of the finishing material is adjusted. This may result in subtle differences in color and texture.

7-3 Color difference

Since the painting process is done manually by the operator checking the Pantone color, there may be slight color differences.
